297   Vintage Laurel & Hardy Poster. Classic comedy team of the 20s and 30s. Hand-Painted One Sheet Movie Poster Circa 1933 The Devil's Brother. Starring Laurel and Hardy, with Dennis King. Painted and signed in lower left by R.J. Rogers. Back in the day, some of the more lucrative movie houses would, instead of receiving the studio's posters, have artists come in and do a one-off. An added feature to this lot is the presence of another painting on the verso. John Barrymore in Reunion in Vienna, also painted by Rogers. Despite the fact that the poster exhibits some heavy creases and tears along the left edge and upper corner, the piece still displays tremendous intensity of color. Very Good. A unique piece that requires some restoration. Rare and valuable. (Listed in Warren's Collecting Movie Posters Guide at 3500-5000) And that's for a standard print! The uniqueness of this one makes it obviously worth more, even with its imperfections.
Estimated Value $1,500-2,500.
