760   "L'Amérique Suivant Les Dernières Observations De L'Acad. Royale Des Sciences", early 1700's. An exquisitely beautiful yet simple map of the Americas. The body of the map is accented by hand-colored hues of cobalt, light pink, yellow and green. The cartouche and border are also delicately painted in varying shades of the same colors. Museum matted and framed to an overall size of 11.5 x 13". A tiny stain in the upper left, not affecting document. Fine. Not only is California depicted and labeled as an island, but Australia is located directly beneath South America.

762   "Nova Hispania et Nova Galica" by Jansson, c.1639. An absolute gem of a map! Meticulously detailed in its documentation of Mexico. Radiant, hand-applied color permeates throughout the body of this work from the beast-like whale off the coast of Mexico, to the armadillos and cherub decorating the legend in lower right. And then there's the cartouche! A wealth of colors adorn this exquisite vignette. Museum matted and framed to an overall size of 26.5" x 21.5". Fine.
Estimated Value $500-750.

763   "Orbis Terrarum", c.1666. World Map, Double Hemisphere. This particular example is from a Dutch Bible, published in Amsterdam by Stoopendaal (c.1700-1710). The text on the reverse side and several small areas of the bordering vignettes have been expertly restored. A most impressive and visually stunning map. Any map which depicts California as an island is highly desirable, especially one that was first published before 1700!.

767   "The British Governments in North America" by J. Gibson, c.1764. "Laid down agreeable to the Proclamation of Octr. 7. 1763." A very interesting map on a number of counts. First, it has a very "modern" feel to it in terms of presentation and layout. The color, while hand done, is quite exact in its application. Also, there's the inclusion of the inner map, Bermuda "or the Summer Islands." Finally, one will find another interesting aspect at the southern tip of the states. (Not only is there an East & West Florida, but the region we now know as south Florida is made up of numerous islands!) The territory just west of the colonies is designated, "Lands Reserved for the Indians" and Louisiana spans from it present location all the way north and west. Museum matted and framed to an overall size of 14.5 x 13.25". Fine.
Estimated Value $750-1,000.

Estimated Value $600-800.

769   "The Invasions of England and Ireland", c.1700's. "With all their Civil Wars Since the Conquest." By I. Speed. Features a legend of the battles in the lower left. Museum matted and framed to 26.5 x 21.5". Hand painted with watercolor. A minuscule tear in the upper left and intermittent spotting from moisture (neither affects integrity of document). Fine.
Estimated Value $600-800.

770   "The Track of the Centurion", c.1750. This uncolored map by R.W. Seale documents the round the world voyage of the Centurion. Museum matted and framed to an overall size of 22.5 x 15.5". 771   "Venezuela" by John Ogilby, c.1670. This exquisite map documents the northern portion of Venezuela as well as the southern portion of the Caribbean islands; St. Lucia, Granada, Tobago and Margarita to name a few.
