U.S. Gold Coins

$5 Gold Pieces

Lot 1298
1807 $5 Capped Bust. Breen-1A, Rarity 5. Sharpness of VF-20 but lightly damaged. The damage consists of a couple of digs, one just below the first star, another on the 0 of the date, and another on the second T of STATES on the reverse. Perhaps this coin was used as a screwdriver at some time in the past. Some weakness is noted on the reeding above LIBERTY, but this coin does not appear to have been mounted. Otherwise, the coin is fairly normal for the grade, moderate hairlines from a past cleaning, but nice eye appeal aside from the marks.
