Pescennius Niger, 193-194 AD. AR Denarius, Antioch mint. Laureate head of Niger right. Reverse: Niger standing left, sacrificing over altar. RIC 68 var.; BMCRE 311 (same dies). Obverse die worn, but portrait quite pleasing and of fine style for this series. Flan very lightly porous, as typical. Sharpness of Very Fine, although Niger's face appears soft. Rare.
