Commemorative Silver Coins

Lot 1906
A complete 144 piece commemorative set. PCGS graded MS-64. An amazing set, many of the coins are in old style small PCGS holders, and we note many possible upgrades are included, some maybe more than a single mint state point! The coins are mostly untoned, but some have light peripheral toning. These were obviously hand picked by a fastidious collector who demanded top quality from this near-gem grade and no doubt many pieces were rejected to find coins of this quality for the assigned grade. Obviously, this set would save a collector untold hours of time by having a well matched set already assembled.
Estimated Value $30,000-UP.

1893 Isabella Quarter Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. One of the finest graded of this important commemorative issue. Only 85 have been graded this high, with 17 higher by PCGS. Deep blue and rose hues on both sides, with frosty luster beneath on the obverse, a bit lighter with gold on the reverse. Firmly impressed by the dies and certain to please the numismatist who wants a high-end gem example.
Estimated Value $2,500-3,500.

1893 Isabella Quarter Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. An exceptional coin for the grade because of its antique blue and gold toning on both sides, and full and complete strike. The surfaces show no signs of handling, and we wonder if this coin might be a grade higher. Frosty luster under the toning, and extremely appealing for a "mere" gem of this early commemorative issue. Any collector of toned coins will love this one.
Estimated Value $1,500-1,700.

1893 Isabella Quarter Dollar. ANACS graded MS-65. This coin is graced by lovely antique blue and gold toning around the periphery, with frosty luster in the fields on both sides. Fully struck by the dies, and extremely well preserved. As a gem, this important Commemorative quarter is truly desirable, few are found this nice, most were mishandled over the decades by careless owners. Back in 1893 there weren't many collectors around to preserve such a piece, and most were sold to attendees of the Exposition. If you have been searching for a gem example that boasts gorgeous toning, then bid high on this lot.
Estimated Value $1,250-1,500.

Lot 1914

1934 Boone Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-67. One of the very finest graded of this date, with just 13 graded this high and none graded higher. This one has delightful lilac to rose toning on the left side of the obverse, with a bit of sunshine yellow on the right. The toning on the reverse is even lighter, and what little color there is only enhances this beautiful coin. Sharply impressed and carefully preserved.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,500.

1937-S Boone Half Dollar, MS-63; 1934-D Oregon, MS-64; 1936-D Texes MS-63. All are ICG graded and holdered in the grades noted. The Boone and Texas are white, while the Oregon is toned. Lot of 3 pieces.

Lot 1918
1925-S California Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-66. Stunning example of this popular early Commemorative half dollar. Lightly toned around the periphery and especially lustrous. The strike too, is bold and complete. As with most of the early commemoratives, they did not sell many to collectors, hence most show signs of handling, not so here, this one is as nice and fresh as the day it was coined, aside from the delicate peripheral toning.
Estimated Value $900-950.

Lot 1919
1925-S California Half Dollar. MS-63. Magnificent sunset toning on both sides. A stunning coin and worthy of a premium bid.
Estimated Value $120-140.

Lot 1920
1954 Carver-Washington Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. Gorgeous peripheral toning around the edges of this coin, frosty white at the centers. Nothing like a little "Americanism" to get the patriot roused up in all of us. PCGS has only graded 9 this high, with none graded higher. An opportunity for the Commemorative half specialist to nail down a really rare gem issue.
Estimated Value $250-300.

Lot 1921 Click on Picture to EnlargeClick on Picture to Enlarge
1936-D Cincinnati Music Center Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-67. One of only 13 so graded by PCGS, with none graded higher, in fact, of the PDS set, only 15 coins have been graded this high, and none have been graded higher! That makes this coin one of the very finest known of the type. The surfaces show a remarkable amount of frosty luster, and the strike is full and complete. The coin is toned with fiery flecks of gold and reddish toning, mostly around the edge of the obverse. On the reverse, the toning is very light and iridescent in quality. Any advanced collector would be proud to own such a coin, and you can know that this is certainly one of the very finest in existence.
Estimated Value $3,500-4,500.

Lot 1922 Click on Picture to EnlargeClick on Picture to Enlarge
