Nero, 54-68 AD. AR Hemidrachm, of Caesarea, Cappadocia, struck c. 58-60 AD. Laureate head of Nero right. Reverse: Nike seated right on globe. RPC 3645. Toned, with choice younger portrait. Choice Very Fine.

Nero, 54-68 AD. AR Tetradrachm, Antioch mint, struck most likely 61/62 AD. Laureate bust of Nero right, aegis at shoulders. Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, palm at left; date at right not wholly legible. Cf. RPC 4182; Wruck 39. Lightly toned. A big handsome coin. Extremely Fine.

Nero, 54-68 AD, and Poppaea. AE 26 of Galatia. Laureate head of Nero right. Reverse: Draped bust of Poppaea right, with elaborately braided hair. RPC 3562; SNG von Aulock 6117. Black-brown patina with slight earthen highlights. A little peripheral striking weakness. Choice Very Fine overall, with the portraits Extremely Fine. Scarce. One of the better examples we've see -- without the metal problems and the portrait quality high.

Poppaea, wife of Nero. AE 24, of Perinthos, Thrace. Draped bust of Poppaea right. Reverse: Isis crown, P and E on either side, all within laurel wreath. RPC 1756; BMC Thrace, p. 149. 15. Dark brown to black patina, with slight orichalcum highlights. Fine to Very Fine. Rare.

Vespasian, 69-79 AD. AR Denarius, "Judaea Capta" Issue, Rome mint, struck 69-71 AD. Laureate head of Vespasian right. Reverse: Mourning Jewess seated right, trophy behind; in exergue, IVDAEA. RIC 15; BMCRE 35; Hendin 759. Nicely toned. Very Fine, the obverse a bit better.

Reverse: Jewess seated right, under palm tree, mourning; to left of palm, Vespasian in military attire standing right, foot resting upon helmet, he holds spear and parazonium. RIC 427; C. 239. Sharp strike, with choice portrait and details. Cleaned and retoned, fields porous. About Very Fine. Scarce.

Gorgeous Medallic Bronze of Domitian

Domitian, 81-96 AD. Medallic Bilingual AE 37 mm. of Philippopolis, Thrace, struck 88/89 AD. Laureate head of Domitian right; legend in Latin. Reverse: Female figure, in chiton and wearing mural crown(?), stands left, holding patera and two ears of corn; at feet, river-god, Hebrus, reclines right, resting on overturned urn and holding reed, reed behind; Greek legend around. RPC 351; Mouchmov 3-5. Bold, stylish portrait and excellent variegated deep green, red and brown patina. Superb Extremely Fine. Rare! An exceptional example of this interesting type.
