Covering Vietnam. Signatures. Lot of five signed Time Magazine covers depicting different angles of Time's Vietnam coverage over a six year period. Here, we offer signed portrait covers featuring General William Westmoreland (1965, with the caption "Escalation in Vietnam" and 1966 as the Man of the Year), Bob Hope (1967, "Christmas in Vietnam") Henry Kissinger (1969, "New Approaches to Friends and Foes") and General Creighton Abrams (1971, "The War: Getting in Deeper to Get Out Faster?"). The Hope cover is inscribed "My Best." Three covers have their original mailing labels but otherwise all of the covers are in good to very good condition.

Great Men of Science and Letters. Signatures. Lot of eight. Intellectual giants of the mid-20th Century, these men changed how the world saw its past, influenced how it lived its present and irrevocably shaped its future -- we still feel their influence. Jacques Barzun, Edward Teller, Werner von Braun, Herman Wouk, Jonas Salk, Arnold Toynbee, Buckminster Fuller and Eero Saarinen have signed portrait issues of Time magazine. All of the pieces are in good to very good condition.

International Politics and Time Magazine. Signatures. 21 signed and matted Time Magazine covers featuring images of some of the major political players from the last 50 years. King Hussein of Jordan, Constantine of Greece, Nasser, Chiang Kai-Shek, Anwar Sadat, Madame Nhu of Vietnam and Lech Walesa (stamped signatures from Walesa) are a few of the featured personages. Many of the covers retain their original mailing labels and a few show mail folds. All of the covers have been matted to 11 x 14" and are in good to fine condition.

The scarcity of some of the political signatures and the prevalence of autopen signatures makes it impossible for us to warrant the items in this lot and we are therefore unable to accept returns from this lot. We are encouraged by the fact that many signatures are accompanied by documents or at least mailing materials from the country of origin but we recommend buyers preview all items.

Men of Science. Signatures. Lot of four signed Time Magazine covers. B.F. Skinner, Michael DeBakey, Carl Sagan and Christiaan Barnard have signed portrait covers honoring their accomplishments. The mailing label on the B.F. Skinner cover is still attached and faint adhesive residue is visible on the other three. There is minor wear and tear on each cover, primarily at the edges, but otherwise conditions range from good to very good.

Lot of five Time Magazine covers signed by some of the most popular and notable writers of the late 20th Century including Woody Allen, John Updike, Günter Grass, Mario Puzo and Yevgeny Yevtushenko. The Yevtushenko cover has been matted to an overall size of 11 x 14" and a transmittal envelope addressed in Russian is included. Condition ranges from very good to good.

Highlights include Jack Parr, Cardinal Cushing, John Updike, Philip Johnson and the Dalai Lama. All of the Time covers have been matted to 11 x 14." Conditions range from good to fine.

Time Magazine and Politics, 1953-1965. Signatures. Lot of 48 Time Magazine covers featuring the major figures and events in International politics, this lot documents major changes in the world. American elections, the early build-up in Vietnam, the Civil Rights struggle and the changes in the colonial world all figure prominently in this collection. The images of world leaders, American politicians and guerrilla warriors are featured with signatures. Abdul Rahman, Commander Harry Felt, McGeorge Bundy, Julius Nyerere of Tanganyika and General Duong Van Minh are a few of the personages featured here. Most of the covers retain their original mailing labels but wear is minimal. Conditions range from good to fine.

Mai Van Bo, Yasser Arafat, General Creighton Abrams and Premier Ky of Vietnam are featured signatures. Most of the covers retain their original mailing labels and a few show minor wear and mailing folds, but overall conditions range from good to fine.

Women In The Public Eye. Signatures. Lot of five signed Time Magazine covers from women who lived with politics and the public's gaze everyday. Margaret Truman, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mamie Dowd Eisenhower, Marina Oswald (signed in 1964!) and Ethel Kennedy have signed Time Magazine portrait covers, Mrs. Eisenhower signed a portrait cover issued on President Eisenhower's death. With the exception of the Eisenhower issue, the covers are all matted to 11 x 14" and are in very good condition.
