Super Bowl history.
Estimated Value $150-250.
Lot 115

Super Bowls to
Remember. Signatures. Heroes of three Super Bowls are represented in
this lot. Roger Staubach and Tom Landry signed the January
16, 1978, issue that came out prior to their game against the Broncos.
Joe Montana has signed the January 25, 1982, Time issue that came
out just a few days before he led the 49ers to their first Super Bowl
Championship. Inscribed in gold ink under Reggie White's signature
is "I Cor 13". White's issue is the post-Super Bowl Wisconsin
special issue of Time from January, 1997. All of the issues are in fine

Landry's last Super Bowl with the Cowboys, the 49ers
first Championship and the first of Joe Montana's 3 Super Bowl MVP titles
and the Packers triumphant return to the Super Bowl after almost 30 years
and the return of the Lombardi trophy to Green Bay are all recalled by
these covers -- great Super Bowl mementos.
Estimated Value $200-250.
Joe Montana's signed January 25, 1982, issue is accompanied by a
Certificate of Authenticity from National Sports Distributors.
Lot 116

Tennis Greats.
Signatures. This lot of five signed Time Magazines (complete issues) is
an interesting tennis assortment and includes one of the most controversial
tennis players in the modern era, Bobby Riggs. Jake Kramer, Jimmy
Connors and Dick Savitt inscribed their covers in black ink.
Kramer pens, "To Arn - / all best wishes", Connors "Best
Always" and Savitt writes, "To Arn, / All the best." We also
have a signed cover from Bjorn Borg, with a nice bold signature.
There is mailing label residue visible on the Savitt and Riggs covers and
some scuffing on the Riggs cover, but overall condition ranges from good to
fine.
Estimated Value $300-350.
Lot 117

Track and Field
Olympians. Signatures. Track and field heroes at midcentury received as
much, if not more, attention than they do today. This lot of five items
includes signed Time Magazines featuring some Olympic standouts from the
past. "Blazin'" Ben Eastman inscribes a July 11, 1932, cover,
"Best wishes" and a letter from Eastman is included. Mel Patton
signed a 1948 magazine; Bob Mathias inscribed "All the best,"
on a July 1952 issue; Parry O'Brien signed a 1956 Time magazine;
and, Rafer Johnson inscribed "Best wishes" on a 1960
magazine. There is some adhesive residue at the bottom right corner of the
Mathias issue, some discoloration at the spine of the Eastman issue and
some general wear, but the overall condition of these magazines is good to
fine.
These are great names in the history of track and field
including record setters, style makers and groundbreakers alike. These Time
Magazines are a great way to bring back those memories.
Estimated Value
$200-300.
Lot 118

Winter Olympians.
Signatures. In this lot of four signed Time Magazines, Alexander
Cushing, Andrea Mead Lawrence, Eric and Beth Heiden and Phil
Mahre have signed complete issues of Time Magazines featuring their
sports. Mead Lawrence included a personal letter and Cushing signed twice.
There is some mailing label residue on the Mead Lawrence cover and the
original label is present on the Mahre cover. There is some general wear on
these magazines, but the overall condition is good to very
good.
Admittedly, we realize that Cushing didn't compete -- but he
was instrumental in landing and organizing the Squaw Valley Olympics and is
absolutely worth including in this lot.
Estimated Value $150-200.
