1878. Clear doubled tail feathers. NGC graded MS-63. Light golden toning on the rims, bright luster otherwise and well struck.

1878-CC. PCGS graded MS-66. One of the finest graded of this scarce date, PCGS has awarded MS-66 to 93 coins, with just 2 graded higher. This one is blast white, without a hint of toning, and looks like it was just pulled from an original bag. For a truly superb collection.

1878-CC. PCGS graded MS-65 Prooflike. Nice cameo appearance with the frosted devices against the reflective fields. A gem that has superb bright white frost and clean fields and devices. Rarely encountered this nice.

1879. SEGS graded MS-64 Deep Mirror Prooflike. Lovely white at the centers, with a fine ring of deep gold around the edge of both the obverse and reverse. Minimal handling marks on the delicate mirror fields.

1879-S. Third reverse. PCGS graded MS-66. With irregular multicolored toning on the obverse, bright white on the reverse. Well struck, and wonderfully preserved.

1880-CC. 80 over 79, second reverse. PCGS graded MS-66. One of the finest graded by PCGS, only 22 have been graded this high, with none graded higher. Note that this coin has no toning whatsoever, and the luster is particularly fresh and bright. Liberty's ample cheek is clean, without more than a couple of faint ticks, and the surrounding fields are quite superb. In an old green insert PCGS holder, from years ago.

1880-S. PCGS graded MS-68. Here is one of the finest graded of this common date, PCGS reports only 91 have been graded this high, with 5 graded higher. As to the quality, it should be studied by interested numismatists to see how close to perfection this one is. Scarcely a tick mark to be found, and its hard to believe this coin was ever in a bag! Completely untoned and with blazing frost and luster in the fields. If you demand the finest, then take a look at this lot.

1880-S. PCGS graded MS-67. This coin has deep multicolored tones splashed about the obverse, while the reverse is white and untoned. Further, the surfaces are superb, and show virtually no signs of contact. Well struck and about as perfect as these are found, with a few graded higher, and most graded much lower. Take a peek at this one. In an old "green" PCGS holder from years ago.

1880-S. PCGS graded MS-65. This coin has wild toning on both the obverse and reverse, The fields are reflective, and show very few signs of handling marks. If you love multicolored Morgans, take a look at this gem.

1881. PCGS graded Proof 66. Deeply and colorfully toned on both sides. The obverse ranges through deep blue, green and yellow with some flecks and spotted areas, on the reverse we note fiery red and gold against the reflective mirrors. One of only 18 graded this high by PCGS, with a scant 9 graded higher for this early Morgan dollar proof.

1881-CC. MS-60 Plus. Fresh from the GSA hoard released years ago and still in the large plastic holder. Who would have known how well these plastic holders would catch on? Nixon was really on to something back then. Fresh white luster with normal handling marks on both sides, and untoned.

1881-O. PCGS graded MS-65 Premium Quality. A scarce date in this grade, this one has full blazing luster throughout, with untoned surfaces and rims. The recent PCGS Population Report shows 178 graded this high, with just 5 graded higher, making this one of the finest available. If you want untoned coins, take a look at this sparkler.

1881-O and 1890. Both grade MS-63. We note each has deep gold toning and nice surfaces. Lot of 2 coins.

1881-S. NGC graded MS-66. This one has deep red hues on the obverse, broken by some spots scattered about the surfaces. On the reverse, we note a light dusting of gold around the extreme periphery. Excellent surfaces that show decidedly few marks.

1881-S. PCGS graded MS-65. Deep green and yellow tones on the obverse, with an arc of lighter yellow extending well above the date, but centered there. The reverse is lighter, with yellow-gold toning around the periphery only, the centers bright.

1881-S. NGC graded MS-65. This one is toned deep blue in the fields, with lighter rose colors on Liberty, similar on the reverse, with most of the blue shades on the lower half, lighter at the top. A deeply toned gem.
