Estimated Value $600-800.

1890-O. MS-64. Hazy toning on both sides, mostly white overall. Scarce.
Estimated Value $70-90.

Lot 995
1890-S. MS-65. Frosty white luster throughout and well struck. Liberty's cheek is clean as are the surrounding fields. A rare date which is hard to locate in gem mint state grades.
Estimated Value $600-700.

Lot 996

1891. NGC graded Proof 66 Cameo. One of the finest to survive from the entire coinage of proofs from 1891. When Philadelphia prepares the dies for each year, the first few have especially strong cameo contrast, as seen on this coin. The fields are deep-space black, while the devices are frosty and white. Over the decades, this coin has toned around the periphery with gold. The surfaces remain pristine, without the usual problem hairlines and virtually no signs of handling. NGC has graded just 2 this high in the Cameo, with 3 graded higher, including just 1 coin as Ultra Cameo.
Estimated Value $4,000-4,500.

1891. PCGS graded MS-65. Here is one of the finest known of this date. PCGS has graded just 43 this high with a single coin graded higher. Any serious collector should avail themselves of this opportunity to purchase a true gem. Clean fields and face on Liberty, and a good strike too, keep this one in the gem class, when most others fall well below.
Estimated Value $5,000-5,500.

Lot 999
1891-O. MS-63. Nice surfaces and luster on this scarce date.
Estimated Value $150-170.

Lot 1000
1891-S. SEGS graded MS-64 Deep Mirror Prooflike. Well struck by the dies, but we note that the dies are very shallow on the reverse, with the tops of UNITED weak from die polishing and lapping. Frosty white on the devices and untoned. More handling marks than one would expect for the grade, which are magnified by the mirror fields.
Estimated Value $250-350.

1892. PCGS graded MS-65. Flashy and white, untoned and pleasing. PCGS has graded 108 this high, with a single coin graded higher.
Estimated Value $2,000-2,500.

1892-CC. MS-63 Plus, Deep Mirror Prooflike. A rare coin in mint state, this lovely deep mirror prooflike has clean surfaces, no toning, and excellent frost on the devices. Liberty's cheek is particularly clean, and the fields have few signs of handling on their delicate mirror surfaces. Worth a good bid.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.

Lot 1005 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1892-S. SEGS graded AU-58. A rare date, but it has been brushed according to SEGS, which effectively means it was cleaned with resulting hairlines. Delicate gold toning around the periphery and not bad in appearance.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,500.

Lot 1006
Morgan dollar better date lot. This group includes 1892-S; 1894-O; 1897-O and 1899, grading VG to AU. Only the 1894-O is low grade, the others are nice, high grade examples of their respective scarce dates. Lot of 4 coins.
Estimated Value $150-175.

1893. PCGS graded MS-64. Bright white and untoned, with well struck hair over Liberty's ear and excellent detail on the breast feathers. The surfaces are quite nice on this near gem, with a fresh cheek on Liberty and excellent surrounding fields.
Estimated Value $800-900.

Estimated Value $100-130.

Lot 1009 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version

Estimated Value $90-110.

1893-S. VF-25. The Queen of the Morgans, the 1893-S is one of the true rarities in this most popular series. With all the millions of dollars held over the years, no bags of this date turned up, and hence few were saved. During 1893, the United States ecomony suffered a sharp downturn, many people could not afford to save such a coin, and virtually all were spent. This one is no exception, the surfaces show normal handling marks for a circulated coin, but none are deep or distracting. Only 100,000 were coined, and most were melted under the Pittman Act in 1918. It is probable that only 3,000 to 4,000 exist, if the Population Reports are any guide, from the original mintage. Finding a nice circulated example is a real challenge for most collectors.
Estimated Value $1,400-1,700.

1894-O (3 pieces). These grade VF to EF. Lot of 3 coins.
Estimated Value $75-100.

1895-O. EF-40. This one was cleaned long ago, but should recover if given a chance.
Estimated Value $150-200.
