Lot 1568 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1880. PCGS graded AU-58. A scarce date, 51,400 were struck, and this is one of the best around. PCGS has graded 10 this high, with 9 graded higher. Abundant flash and luster, but there are rather moderate bagmarks on the surfaces.
Estimated Value $1,400-1,600.

1884-S. PCGS graded MS-62. Good luster, but banged up a bit by bag handling, including on Liberty's chin and the field nearby.
Estimated Value $750-1,000.

1888 Double Die Reverse. PCGS graded MS-61. The reverse die is obviously doubled, with a slight shift visible on many of the letters. While not as dramatic as on the 1955 cent, double dies are scarce and seldom encountered on gold coins. The surfaces show light toning and the usual bagmarks from handling. Liberty's cheek has no deep gouges or other detractions though. This coin is in a PCGS Prestige holder, with the "Doubled Die Reverse" noted on the holder. Rare and not listed in most reference works.
Estimated Value $1,250-UP.

Lot 1571
1891-S. VF-30. Lightly cleaned with minor hairlines in the fields, nice color though and still quite appealing.
Estimated Value $250-300.

1892-S. ICG graded MS-63. Deep gold in color and well preserved fields and devices. Scarce any nicer.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,300.

Lot 1573
1894. ICG graded MS-63. As Ira notes "don't expect a cross-over on this one". Minor bagmarks on both sides, but nice luster.
Estimated Value $400-500.

Lot 1574
1894-S. MS-60 Plus. Moderate handling marks on the surfaces but with nice luster and color.
Estimated Value $300-350.

Lot 1575
1896. MS-60. Flashy luster but average bagmarks.
Estimated Value $250-300.

Lot 1576
1898-S. AU-55. Flashy luster and nice surfaces.
Estimated Value $250-300.

Lot 1577
1902-S Mint Error, Lamination On Obverse. PCGS graded MS-60. This coin has a significant planchet lamination (missing) from Liberty's forehead up to the rim. Normal handling marks, but these are offset by the mint fresh luster and lovely gold color. All gold errors are rare, and laminations are seldom seen.
Estimated Value $400-500.

1903. NGC graded Proof 63 Premium Quality. This totally brilliant proof example is remarkably clean for the grade and thus worthy of a premium bid. Estimated Value $10,000-12,500.

Lot 1579 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version

Estimated Value $300-340.

Lot 1583
1904. MS-60. This lot includes a small hand stitched leather pouch marked "Gold" in script lettering, and signed "Austin" above. The coin is slightly prooflike and has decent surfaces for the grade.
Estimated Value $300-340.

Lot 1584
1904-S. MS-60 Plus. One scrape behind Liberty's head, but still very presentable.
Estimated Value $300-350.
