Lot 1585

1907. High relief, Roman
numerals, wire rim. PCGS graded MS-62. One of the most beautiful
coins every produced by any country, the high relief St. Gaudens design should
be one of the crowning achievements in any collector's collection. Most were
saved from the time of issue, and the coin is as impressive today as the day it
was made. Trivial handling marks in the fields, but this one has been off the
market for many years and we recently submitted to PCGS for their opinion. For
the grade, this specimen is quite nice, and this is a coin that any true
collector would be proud to own.
Estimated Value $6,000-7,000.
Lot 1586

1907. High relief, Roman
numerals, wire rim. PCGS graded AU-58. This one shows just a tiny
bit of wear on the high points. Perfect for the collector who wants all the
pizzazz of a mint state coin at a large discount in the price.
Estimated
Value $4,000-5,000.
Lot 1587

1907. High relief, Roman
numerals, wire rim. PCGS graded AU-58. This one has a whisper of
wear on the highest points and retains most of the mint luster. A bargain for
the grade, which is boldly struck and very appealing.
Estimated Value
$4,000-5,000.
Lot 1588

1907. High relief, Roman
numerals, wire rim. Sharpness of AU-55. Here is a coin for the
collector of moderate means. The surfaces have been burnished lightly on both
sides and the edge lettering has been filed down substantially in some areas,
but is still readible. Liberty's face and microscopic details are all present,
and this coin probably never circulated but was poorly cleaned. Undoubtedly
this will sell at a nice discount to a more original example, and will thus
allow a some collector to purchase an example of this enormously popular coin.
Inspection mandatory.
Estimated Value $3,000-4,000.
Lot 1589

nearly impossible to locate in full gem, with one this close as good as these
are ever found.
Estimated Value $4,000-5,000.

Estimated Value $350-400.
Lot 1595

1913. NGC graded
Matte Proof 64. Philadelphia coined 58 of these in proof for the entire
year of 1913. Perhaps that will give the buyer some idea of how few collectors
were around back in 1913. If more were struck, they would have been melted as
unsold. For a few years the world's mints used the dark matte finish which gave
the coins a very different look than the usual shiny mirror fields. With the
matte proofs, the entire surface is "matte", somewhat dull in appearance when
compared with the earlier flashy proofs. However, because of their distinctive
style, these proofs are highly coveted by numismatists today. NGC has graded
just 8 this high, with 22 graded higher. Not many to go around.
Estimated
Value $17,000-20,000.
Lot 1596

Lot 1600
1922. AU-58.
Light wear on the high points.
Estimated Value $300-350.
Lot 1601
A lot of 6 Double Eagles
each PCGS graded as Mint Errors with Laminations. Each of the following is
graded by PCGS as noted, and each label notes these are "Mint Errors" with
laminations noted on the obverse or reverse. The first coin is a 1923 AU-58
with a lamination through BERT and Liberty's head; second a 1924 MS-63 with a
minor lamination on the reverse at RS of DOLLARS and above; third a 1924 graded
MS-64, with a long obverse lamination above the right arm of Liberty; fourth we
have a 1924 graded MS-62 with a long reverse lamination extending most of the
length of the eagle in a horizontal direction from his neck past the center of
his body; fifth we have a 1924 graded MS-64 with a reverse lamination that
extends from the wing up to the rim just left of center; and last we have a
1927 graded MS-63 with a minor lamination at LI and below of LIBERTY. As each
