Byzantine Empire. Justinian I, 527-565 AD. Gold Solidus (4.3 g.). Constantinople mint, struck 545-565 AD. Helmeted facing bust, holding globus cruciger. Reverse: Angel standing facing, holding Chi-Rho staff and globus cruciger. SBC 140. Also, a pale Gold Stater of Govindachandra, 1115-1154 AD., the Gahadavalas of Kanauj & Benares: Four-armed Lakshmi seated facing / Three line inscription; Mitchner, Non-Islamic States, proof. 80, 490-496. Byzantine coin Fine or better; Indian, Very fine.

Byzantine Empire. Justin II, 565-578 AD. Gold Tremissis (1.5 g.). Draped and diademed bust right. Reverse: Victory walking right, holding wreath and globus cruciger. SBC 353; D.O.C. 13. Nicely modeled, rounded style, fully struck up and well centered. Light scratch reverse field, otherwise, lustrous. Mint State. Unusually fine example.

Byzantine Empire. Heraclius, 610-641 AD. Gold Solidus (4.3 g.), Constantinople mint, struck c. 616-625 AD. Facing busts of Heraclius and young Heraclius Constantine, each wearing simple crown. Reverse: Cross potent on three steps. SBC 742; D.O.C. 17. Well centered and struck. Graffiti on reverse. Choice Very Fine / Very Fine.

Byzantine Empire. Constans II, 641-668 AD. Gold Solidus (4.4 g.), Constantinople mint, struck 651-654 AD. Crowned facing bust, with long beard, holding globus cruciger. Reverse: Cross potent on three steps. SBC 956; D.O.C II 19. Also, Empire of Nicaea: John III, 1222-1254 AD., Gold Hyperpyron (3.0 g.). Christ enthroned facing. Reverse: John standing facing, being crowned by Virgin at right. SBC 2073. Constans with minor peripheral flatness, two edge marks at 11 and 1 o'clock, and minor scuff on reverse. Otherwise, with good portrait and very lustrous. John III better struck than typical, with handsome red-brown toning, but strongly clipped in antiquity. Lot of 2 coins. Constans Nearly Extremely Fine; John, Very Fine plus.
