1849. Open wreath. MS-64. Lovely orange gold toning on both sides and we note excellent surfaces and a good strike.

1851. PCGS graded MS-64. A very well struck specimen with all the hair detail on Liberty clearly defined. This beauty explodes with golden-orange mint color.

1851. VF-35. Nice color and surfaces for the grade.

1852. PCGS graded MS-62. Nice color and surfaces, with ample luster in the fields.

1852-D. AU-53. Nearly mint state as with full curls on Liberty and strong lettering all around the reverse. Moderate circulation marks from brief handling, and with dull gold color over luster.

1853. PCGS graded MS-64. This one has a nice fresh face on Liberty, and good luster in the fields. Sharp on the stars and other devices. One for the type collector.

1853. EF-40. One bump in the field below Liberty's neck.

Lot 2010
1853 and 1855. The 1853 grades sharpness of Very Fine but repaired, and the 1855 grades sharpness of Extremely Fine but repaired. Both are nice for the grade, and the repairs are pretty minor. Lot of 2 coins.

Lot 2011
1854. Type 1. PCGS graded MS-61. A few fritzies in the left obverse field, but sharp overall. The 85 of the date show doubling below.

1854-D. PCGS graded AU-58. One of the finest graded of this rare date. Only 2,935 were coined as the country slipped into Civil War. Most of those were hoarded or lost, as the South went through the brunt of the ensuing war. This one retains much of the original mint color and has gorgeous rich gold colors on both sides. PCGS has graded 6 this high, with just 8 graded higher (best MS-62) so don't expect to find one with much more eye appeal, even if it is technically uncirculated. Well struck and well preserved, and hard to imagine a better one given the circumstances.
