Memorable 1908-S $10 Indian With Motto

Lot 2212 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1908-S. With motto. PCGS graded MS-67. Wow, a wonder coin here! Check out the superb surfaces and radiant luster. Despite the low mintage of 59,850, a few of this date have been found in these wonder grades. In fact, PCGS has graded 5 this high, and even more remarkable, there are 3 graded higher (!), all MS-68. Nevertheless, this is still a rare coin in gem grades, and if you want something spectacular for your date set, or type set, then take a long careful look at this superb gem and see if it's the coin for you. Identifiable by a tiny copper spot on the lower leaf above the S Mintmark. An opportunity for the astute buyer. Color photo.
Estimated Value $40,000-60,000.

One minor nick on Liberty's cheek from an even higher grade, and most will be very proud to own a coin as nice as this.
Estimated Value $1,250-1,750.

Glowing luster and rich gold in color, this appealing coin will find many who desire to own it, but only one will capture the prize this day. Clean surfaces that show minimal signs of handling, and an excellent face on Liberty. Color photo.
Estimated Value $7,000-8,000.

Lot 2223 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version

1915. PCGS graded MS-64. Flashy luster and very appealing. A few minor scuffs on Liberty's cheek, but they are small and not that detracting. Coppery gold in color, with splashes of deeper shades on both sides. PCGS has graded 141 this high, with just 30 graded higher. Color photo.
Estimated Value $1,250-1,750.

Classic Gem 1916-S $10 Indian

Lot 2225 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1916-S. PCGS graded MS-65. A condition rarity in gem, PCGS has graded 7 this high, with just 6 graded higher! Knee-deep in frost and with superb surfaces. Collectors of these know how few are encountered in gem condition. Take a look at the cheek on Liberty, or the surrounding fields, and you will see the absolute quality required for a gem grade. Bright yellow gold in color, with abundant luster throughout. Minor weakness in the strike, as always for the San Francisco Mint of the period. Color photo.
Estimated Value $10,000-12,500.

Extremely Rare Gem 1920-S $10 Indian

Lot 2226 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1920-S. PCGS graded MS-65 Premium Quality. This is a superb coin, one of the very finest to exist of this rare date. Throw away the mintage of 126,500 and check out the number graded. PCGS has seen just 46 coins in all grades, the lowest number besides the ultra rare 1933! In gem grades, there are 2 coins seen, this one as a magnificent MS-65, and a single coin graded higher, that an MS-67. Orange gold toning over well struck devices on the obverse, the reverse similar with frosty luster and boldly struck on the eagle's breast and wing, the only weakness is on the thigh and foot of eagle, typical of the San Francisco Mint of the period. The surfaces are outstanding, we note two tiny ticks on Liberty's forehead, and a small tick on her chin, and a small copper spot below and right of star nine. On the reverse, we see a couple of tiny ticks on the eagle's tail feathers, near the tips. If you have ever considered building a date set of these, and demand high grade coins, then this is one you will want to own. Color photo.
Estimated Value $150,000-200,000.

Lot 2227
1926. PCGS graded MS-64. Average quality for the grade, with scattered marks on both sides keeping it from the gem class by a notch. Nice luster and rich golden color.
Estimated Value $600-700.

Lot 2228 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1932. PCGS graded MS-64. Beautiful copper color and abundant luster. Minor handling marks on both sides, visible with a glass. Far better than most encountered.
Estimated Value $900-1,100.
