Lot 3149 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
Canada. 25 Cents, 1875-H. The key date to the Canadian Quarter series, the 1875-H somehow slipped through the cracks. Apparently, the mintage for the 1874-H and 1875-H were combined, so the exact mintage figure for each year are unknown. What we do know, is that the 1875-H is a major rarity, and nearly impossible to locate at all. Here is one that has been cleaned and retoned, and has likely been lightly repaired in the obverse fields and through CEN on the reverse. Nevertheless, the details are that of nearly a mint state coin. Placing a value on this one will be difficult, but that's what auctions are all about. A rarity in any grade, and this one would look nice in an album after looking at that empty hole for years. Sharpness of AU-50 but lightly repaired.
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
