Choice AU 1883-CC $5 Liberty

Lot 3646 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1883-CC. NGC graded AU-58. A tough date to locate in higher grades, particularly in mint state! This one just missed that grade, and the surfaces show minor circulation on the high points, and a fair amount of luster in the fields. We note some minor pin scratches between the 83 of the date, and light coppery gold colors on both sides. Sharp for the mint, with no signs of weakness on the curls or eagle. NGC has graded 19 this high, and importantly just 3 higher.
Estimated Value $5,000-7,000.

Lot 3653 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1887-S. NGC graded MS-64. One of the better examples of this date, we note full frosty luster and the coin is without any toning. A few faint hairlines from an even higher grade, but they are not detracting. NGC has graded just 18 this high, with a single coin graded higher, similar at PCGS which reports 19 this high, and 3 higher. Don't miss out if you need the date. The 7 is slightly recut low.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,300.

1887-S. NGC graded MS-63. Flashy and bright, with minimal handling ticks.
Estimated Value $400-500.

Lot 3655

Estimated Value $400-500.

Resplendent 1893 Deep Cameo Proof

Lot 3656 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1893. PCGS graded Proof 64 Deep Cameo. According the PCGS online Population Report, this is the only Deep Cameo graded of the date 1893. A sparse 77 were coined for the numismatists of two centuries ago, and this is certainly one of the most beautiful to survive. The deep cameo is especially desirable, as the devices are piled high with mint frost, and the fields seem to fall away from the coin with their well mirrored perfection. There are some trivial hairlines in the delicate fields, which are expected on these early proofs, as virtually all have been lightly wiped with a cloth or examined while on a velvet tray. During these times, tiny particles of dust get pressed into the fields or dragged across the surfaces, causing these tiny lines, which slightly reduce the grade. If you want a coin with superb eye appeal, and rich orange gold color, then take a look at this near gem to see if it suits you. In PCGS holder #50003487.
Estimated Value $12,500-15,000.
