Nero, 54-68 AD. AR Tetradrachm of Antioch, Syria, struck c. 58/60 AD. Laureate head of youthful Nero right, wearing aegis. Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, upright palm before; date (years 6 and 108) at right. RPC 4180; Wruck 37. Good metal, but usual tight planchet. Faintly toned. Very Fine plus.

Also, Roman Republic, Anonymous, AE Litra, c. 24-235 BC: Youthful Mars, helmeted / Head of horse; Syd. 26; Craw. 25/3. Plus, an AR Denarius of Maximus, 235-238 AD: Laureate, cuirassed bust / Providentia; RIC 13. Coins well struck and well centered. Nero sharp, with nice dark green patina, but on very small flan. Lot of 3 coins. Coins average Extremely Fine, plus or minus. Nice group.

With pleasing variegated green and dark brown patina. Also, an AE As, Rome, 42 AD., of Claudius, 41-54 AD: Bare head left / Libertas right, holding pileus; RIC 113; C. 47. With choice detailed portrait and fine green patina, but reverse surfaces rough. Lot of 2 coins. Coins Choice Very Fine or better.

A little softly struck towards one edge, but elegant style front and back. Light chestnut brown to orichalcum patina. Choice Very Fine.

Nero, 54-68 AD. AE Sestertius, Rome mint, struck c. 66 AD. Laureate bust of Nero right, aegis at shoulder. Reverse: Roma seated left on cuirass and shields, holding Victory and parazonium. RIC 329 var. Full sharp strike, of fine style, but rough surfaces and with flan crack. Deep brown patina with orichalcum highlights. Very Fine, or better.

Galba, 68-69 AD. AR Denarius, Tarraco(?), struck 68 AD. Laureate head right. Reverse: Providentia standing left, holding cornucopia, branch in outstretched hand. RIC 54; BMCRE 164. Obverse perfectly centered and tack sharp, with pristine, wonderful portrait, and original light hoard patina. Reverse with some field smoothing, and remains of black patina. Nearly Mint State / Choice Very fine. Rare.

Galba, 68-69 AD. Lot of Two AR Denarii. Bare head right / Legend in three lines, within oak wreath (RIC 176). Also a Terraco(?) Denarius: Laureate head right, globe below neck / Roma, in miltary attire, advancing right, holding Victory and spear (RIC 57). First with fine portrait, but long flan crack, apparently plugged. Second with short flan crack, deeply toned. Lot of 2 coins. Coins average Very Fine. The Roma reverse rare.

Reverse: Vespasian, in military attire right, foot resting on helmet and holding parazonium, stands before palm tree, at base of which a Jewess sits in mourning. RIC 427; Hendin 775. Fields smoothed, also some tooling to Vespasian's hair, and along his reverse figure. Still, the portrait bold and agreable. Dark green to green-black patina. Choice Very Fine.

Domitian, 81-96 AD. Medallic Bilingual AE 37 mm. of Philippopolis, Thrace. Laureate head of Domitian right; legend in Latin. Reverse: Tyche-like female figure, in chiton and mural crown(?), stands left, holding patera and two ears of corn; before her, river god, Hebrus, reclines holding reed, arm on overturned urn, reed behind; Greek legend around. RPC 351; Mouchmov 3-5. Bold, stylish portrait in excellent variegated deep green, red and brown patina. Finely centered on spacious round flan. Extremely Fine. Rare! An exceptional example of this rare type.
