Lot 244 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1916. NGC graded MS-66 Full Bands. Blue, green and gold toning on both sides and appealing. Satiny luster in the fields.
Estimated Value $200-UP.

Lot 245 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1916-D. PCGS graded VF-25. A rather nice coin for the grade with antique dark toning which accentuates the devices, light silver otherwise. Typical circulation marks for the grade. Always in demand as the key date to the series, only 264,000 were struck.
Estimated Value $1,200-1,400.

Lot 246
Three Mercury dimes, all PCGS graded as noted: 1916-S MS-61 FB, 1917-S AU-55 and 1918-S AU-58. All are nice for the grade. Lot of 3 coins.
Estimated Value $75-100.

Lot 247
1917-D. PCGS graded AU-58. Boldly struck from a cracked obverse die, and very nearly new. Split bands on the reverse even.
Estimated Value $60-80.

Lot 248 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1917-S. NGC graded MS-66 Full Bands. A glowing white gem that exudes luster and the satiny surfaces imparted by the dies. Scarce as a date, and especially so this nice, with pristine surfaces throughout. Carefully preserved since the time of issue.
Estimated Value $1,400-1,600.

Lot 249
1918. PCGS graded MS-63 Full Bands. A totally choice coin with a touch of gold toning.
Estimated Value $90-110.

Close to Gem 1918-D Full Bands Mercury Dime

Lot 250 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1918-D. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Bands Premium Quality. Boldly struck, in fact several of the peripheral letters and date show machine doubling caused by the sharpness of the strike. Light gold over luster, and we note that this one is housed in an old green insert PCGS holder. PCGS has only graded 65 as such, with 15 higher as MS-65 FB, and 2 at the very top another grade point up. Don't let this one get away, it might join the upper grades someday.
Estimated Value $4,500-UP.

Lot 251
1918-D. MS-60+. This one has some hairlines on the surfaces.
Estimated Value $80-100.

Lot 252
1918-D. PCGS graded AU-58. A few faint hairlines from new, but bright white and ever so close to mint state.
Estimated Value $40-50.

Lot 253
1919-D. PCGS graded MS-61. Another scarce date, but we note some light hairlines and haze on the obverse.
Estimated Value $120-150.

Lot 254
1919-S. AU-55. Light hairlines from a past cleaning, but a scarce date.
Estimated Value $50-75.

Lot 255
1920. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Bands. Nearly a gem, white and bright.
Estimated Value $60-80.

Lot 256 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1921. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Bands. One of the key dates to the series, this one is satiny and bright, with good luster and just a few trivial hairlines from gem. Fully struck and always in great demand.
Estimated Value $1,200-1,400.

Lot 257 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1921. PCGS graded AU-58. This one is very well struck and has delicate toning around the periphery over strong luster. We note full bands even on the reverse. A coin that would certainly fit into a mint state set, at a significant price discount on this rare and desirable key date.
Estimated Value $600-700.

Lot 258 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1921-D. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Bands. A frosty and bright example of this rare date. The surfaces are very clean, and we note just a hint of specks on the lower right obverse, otherwise nothing but mint fresh luster is found on examination. The devices are bold, with full separation on the fine bands at the center of the fasces on the reverse. PCGS has graded 79 this high, with 52 higher.
Estimated Value $1,500-1,650.

Lot 259 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1921-D. PCGS graded MS-64. One of the key dates and this one must have just missed a gem grade. Excellent luster and surfaces, and without a flaw. Interesting die cracks on the obverse as often seen on these early Mercury dimes.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,200.

Lot 260
1923-S. PCGS graded MS-63 Premium Quality. White at the centers, and with splashes of very bright iridescent colors near the rims. Nearly full bands, and well struck for this hard to find "S" Mint issue.
Estimated Value $250-300.

Lot 261 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1924-S. ICG graded MS-65 Full Bands. Truly a rare date in this grade, especially so with full bands on the reverse. We note hazy pinkish gold toning on the obverse, while the reverse remains bright white and fresh. An important offering, and worth a look.
Estimated Value $3,000-3,500.

Lot 262
1924-S. PCGS graded AU-58. Lovely surfaces and strike on this scarce coin, the strike is full on the reverse central bands, and many would consider this one mint state.
Estimated Value $75-100.

Lot 263
1925-D. PCGS graded AU-58. Nearly split bands on the reverse, and well struck. Light golden toning, and virtually no signs of wear on the high points.
Estimated Value $125-150.

Lot 264 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1925-S. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Bands. A very lovely coin for the grade, blazing white in color with a whisper of gold around the edge. Fully struck, and rare thus, with few seen with the central bands sharp from any of the San Francisco dates.
Estimated Value $700-800.

Lot 265
1926, 1935-D and 1937-S Mercury dimes. These all grade MS-63 and all have split bands. A nice group. Lot of 3 coins.
Estimated Value $75-100.

Lot 266 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1926-S. PCGS graded MS-64 Premium Quality. Nearly full bands on this rare date, and the surfaces are very nice indeed. A touch of gold on the upper rim.
Estimated Value $1,200-1,500.

Lot 267
1927-S. MS-60. Lightly toned and quite lustrous. A scarce date.
Estimated Value $150-200.

Lot 268
1928-D. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Bands. Bright and fresh, with a sharp strike too. Scarce this nice.
Estimated Value $450-500.

Lot 269 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1937. PCGS graded Proof 66. Well preserved and boldly struck for this proof issue. Deeply mirrored, and a popular type coin.
Estimated Value $180-200.

Superb 1942, 2 over 1 Mercury Dime

Lot 270 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1942. 2 over 1. PCGS graded MS-65 Full Bands Premium Quality. A magnificent stunning gem of this rare overdate! The surfaces are totally pristine and the strike is bold throughout, including the full bands on the reverse. Toned with lovely russet hues on the lower obverse, with even more russet peripheral toning reverse. As to the overdate feature, it is bold and can easily be seen. After examining the surfaces with a 10X glass, we can scarcely find a single tick mark, and wonder if this one might be graded even higher. Regardless, it is a phenomenal gem of this rare overdate, and one of just 9 so graded by PCGS, with a total of 4 graded higher, all MS-66 FB above. A rare opportunity for the specialist.
Estimated Value $16,000-UP.

Lot 271 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1944, Mint Error, Struck 30% Off Center. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Bands. Bright gold and amber toning on both sides over luster. This one is off center towards twelve o'clock on the obverse. A great error for the collector.
Estimated Value $300-UP.

Lot 272
Small 1942 Proof lot: Jefferson nickels, 1942-P silver Proof-60+ (2 pieces) and Mercury dime, 1942 Proof 60+. The dime has the most value, but the pair of silver nickels are nice too. All are bright and untoned. Lot of 3 coins.
Estimated Value $150-200.
