Barber Quarter Dollars

Lot 334 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1892. NGC graded Proof 68. A stunning coin for its superb toning of light greenish iridescence on the obverse, much deeper and multicolored aqua, rose and deep green on the reverse. Of course the surfaces are superb as well, with the winning grade of PF-68 from NGC, a grade not given out too frequently. In fact we see that only 14 have been graded this high, with a single coin graded higher by that service.
Estimated Value $6,000-UP.
Said to be from Superior Galleries Buddy Ebsen Sale, although no lot ticket was included.

1892. NGC graded MS-66. Exceptional gold and greenish toning on the reverse, the obverse a bit lighter and quite lustrous. First year of issue, and rare in top grades as seen here. NGC has graded 55 this high with a scant 19 higher of the date.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,200.

1896. PCGS graded Proof 65. Somber gray toning on the obverse, the reverse a bit lighter. Hints of gold shine through when examined under a light, with areas of dark red as well, especially on the obverse.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,250.

Lot 337
1897. Proof 63+. Light golden gray toning on both sides, with nicely frosted devices surrounded by the mirror fields. Nice for the grade.
Estimated Value $450-500.

1916-D. NGC graded MS-65. Bright and frosty, with a few signs of handling from a higher grade, but very nice overall. Well struck and the final year of issue for the Barber series.
Estimated Value $500-600.
