Quarter Dollars

Liberty Standing Quarter Dollars

Lot 339 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1916. MS-63. Frosty luster on both sides and generally very clean for this first year of issue. Only 52,000 were struck, and most of them circulated long before being pulled out and saved by date collectors. This one has a decent strike on the head, but it is not full as nearly always seen. One tiny tick on the extreme edge is noted on the right side of the obverse. A couple of minor hairlines can be seen with a strong light and a glass, but they are not problematic. Perfect for the date collector who is placing coins in an album.
Estimated Value $6,000-6,500.

1917-D. Type 1. PCGS graded MS-65 Full Head. Bright and lustrous, with the full strike on all of Liberty's high points, making this ever more desirable. A couple of minor ticks from a higher grade. Popular first type, issued only briefly for parts of two short years.
Estimated Value $800-900.

Nearly Full Head 1919-S

Lot 341 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1919-S. PCGS graded MS-66. One of the very finest graded of this date by PCGS, we note frosty luster throughout, and the coin is fairly well struck for this very tough early "S" Mint date. Liberty's head is over 90 percent full, with weakness on temple and the three Laurel leaves on her head, and two bosses are slightly weak on the shield, but both are visible. Toned a delicate rose gold over mint fresh surfaces, and a coin few could find fault with. PCGS has graded 5 this high, with none higher in this category, and only 3 with full head this high, and 1 at the top with full head a grade higher. Rare thus.
Estimated Value $7,500-UP.

1924-D. NGC graded MS-67. Light hazy blue toning on both sides and quite frosty and lustrous. About as nice as these are found, with 27 seen this high but none graded higher! Further, only a single coin has been graded this high with a full head.
Estimated Value $800-1,000.

1928. NGC graded MS-64. Lovely sunset gold on the upper right obverse and lower reverse. Frosty luster and appealing. Minor weakness on the head.
Estimated Value $500-UP.

1928-S. PCGS graded MS-66 Full Head. A blazing white gem that boasts a very sharp strike with only a trace of weakness on the high points.
Estimated Value $900-1,000.

Lot 345 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1929-S. NGC graded MS-66. Graced by rich magenta and bright gold toning on the obverse, the reverse even more spectacular with an explosion of colors from top to bottom. Fairly well struck, but not quite a full head on Liberty. Scarce this nice and very rare any in any higher grade. As pretty a toned quarter as one is likely to ever find.
Estimated Value $500-700.

Lot 346
1929-S. PCGS graded MS-64 Full Head. Blazing white luster and well struck for this San Francisco issue. One thin line in the reverse field from a gem grade, but certainly with the eye appeal to qualify.
Estimated Value $200-240.
