1875-S. NGC graded MS-64. A bright, lustrous, and totally white example of this type coin. The strike is sharp, with no weakness on the stars or central devices. Nearly a gem, and quite appealing as the fields and devices show just a few traces of handling.
Estimated Value $2,300-2,500.

Lot 558 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1876. Proof 65. A resplendent gem proof who's surfaces are only bested by the lovely colors which further enhance them. Deep blue, gold and red on both sides, and this one must have been stored for decades in a Wayte Raymond album or something very similar, as these types of colors normally take many years to form. Struck during the centennial year of this country, and a top quality piece.
Estimated Value $4,500-5,500.

Estimated Value $2,200-2,500.

1876. MS-60+. The fields are semi-prooflike on this Centennial year issue.
Estimated Value $400-500.

Colorful 1876-CC Trade Dollar

Lot 561 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1876-CC. NGC graded MS-63. A low mintage date from the famous Carson City Mint, just 509,000 were struck and very few were saved, especially in high grades. This coin is not only mint state, but it also has multicolored rainbow toning on both sides, ranging from deep gold to russet and green, with an arc situated behind Liberty's body up through her head, and quite alluring. Fully struck by the dies, with excellent details on the high points of the devices. We note a couple of reeding marks between the TRA of TRADE and these will serve to identify this rarity. NGC has graded only 7 this high, and importantly 4 higher, all as MS-64 above. In NGC holder #666787-001.
Estimated Value $10,000-UP.

Lightly Toned Gem 1876-S Trade Dollar

Lot 562 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1876-S. NGC graded MS-65. Smoky gold toning on both sides over vibrant luster. Sharply impressed and well preserved, this centennial year issue would make a nice type coin for the collector. NGC has graded 16 this high, with none graded higher! An opportunity.
Estimated Value $5,000-6,000.

Lot 563 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1880. Proof 60+. This coin has steel gray and hazy toning on the obverse, the reverse however is a spectacular array of multicolored rainbow hues. Display this one reverse side up, and watch the buyers all drool! Moderate hairlines from a higher grade, but regardless, this one has "gem" colorful eye appeal.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,100.
