$5 Classic Head

Lot 963 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1834. Plain 4. NGC graded AU-58. Bright, but we note a few marks and ticks on both sides, as always seen on the bagmark-magnet coins. Tough any better! We have several nice high grade examples of these Classic Head half eagles by Kneass in this section, so pick a couple out and bid accordingly.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,250.

1835. NGC graded AU-58. A touch of coppery gold at the edge, but we note the usual hairlines from limited circulation and handling. The D in the denomination is recut left.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,250.

1836. NGC graded AU-58. Sharply struck throughout, with a few minor lines from circulation over luster.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,250.

1837. NGC graded AU-55. Rather hairlined in the fields, but still well struck and flashy for this important and short-lived type coin.
Estimated Value $900-1,000.
