1875-CC. PCGS graded MS-61. A flashy and bright example of this popular Type II Twenty, and from Carson City no less! Rich orange gold luster throughout, and well struck. Moderate handling marks account for the grade, but nice enough in the eye appeal department. A couple of minor streaks on each side. PCGS has graded 71 this high, 90 a grade above, and 11 at the top as MS-63 for this date.
Estimated Value $2,000-2,400.

Lot 1066
1876. PCGS graded AU-53. Luster in the obverse fields produces the desired mint glow, and the surfaces are decent for the grade, although we do note moderate handling marks on the reverse, Liberty's cheek remains clean. Centennial year issue.
Estimated Value $400-425.

Lot 1067 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version

1892-CC. AU-53. Good luster and well struck by the dies. In addition, minimal handling marks for a large $20, and especially so for a "CC" which all too often come banged up pretty bad. One for the date collector.
Estimated Value $1,200-1,400.

Lot 1073
1895. MS-60. A bit baggy, but still new.
Estimated Value $325-350.

Lot 1074 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1896-S. Sharpness of MS-60 but lightly polished. The fields are quite reflective as though this one is prooflike, but we suspect it has been lightly polished. Plenty of eye appeal remains.
Estimated Value $350-425.

Delightful Gem 1898-S $20 Liberty

Lot 1075 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1898-S. PCGS graded MS-65. A frosty bright gem of this common date, which is anything but common this nice! The strike is sharp and the fields and face are mint fresh, and look as though they never saw the inside of a bag. Light coppery gold toning on both sides with a trace of haze. A splendid coin for the type collector who demands gem quality. PCGS has graded 21 of this date as such, and importantly only a single coin higher, that an MS-67.
Estimated Value $6,000-7,000.

Glowing 1898-S Gem

Lot 1076 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1898-S. NGC graded MS-65. Although a common date in lower grades of mint state, in full gem condtion as seen here, this date is quite rare. NGC has graded 58 this high, and just 2 are graded higher by that service, while PCGS reports only 18 this high, with a single coin graded higher. Note that the devices are fully struck by the dies, and the coin boasts mint fresh luster throughout. A few tiny ticks from handling, including one small mark on her chin. As close to perfection as one can hope to find.
Estimated Value $6,000-7,000.
