Barber Half Dollars

Lot 573      1893-O. NGC graded MS-65. Rich golden toning and fairly well struck with just a trace of weakness on a couple of stars and the eagle's arrow claw. As a date, 1893-O is very scarce in upper grades. NGC has only graded 6 this high, with a single coin graded higher, while PCGS has graded 4 this high, with 2 higher. Certainly not a lot of gems to go around. Identifiable by a tiny field nick between the fifth star and Liberty's cap. Color photo.
Estimated Value $5,000-6,000.

Lot 574      1894. PCGS graded Proof 65. Pleasing medium gray and blue toning on both sides, and very sharply impressed by the dies. Rich golden hues appear as well when examined under a light. A great coin for the date or type collector.
Estimated Value $1,700-1,850.

Delightful Toned Gem 1895-S Barber Half Dollar

Lot 575      1895-S. NGC graded MS-67. Wonderful russet gold and green toning on the obverse, with satiny luster throughout. Certainly one of the very finest graded, and we can see why as there are no disturbing marks or nicks to distract the eye. One for the finest collection of Barber half dollars. Color photo.
Estimated Value $9,500-UP.

Lot 576      1897-S. Good-5. A scarce date in all grades. Natural gray tones.
Estimated Value $80-100.

Lot 577      1898-S. NGC graded MS-65. Totally white and frosty, with boldly struck devices and stars throughout. A rare date this nice, and the surfaces and fields just show faint marks on Liberty's cheek, as expected.
Estimated Value $5,000-5,500.

Lot 578      1899. NGC graded Proof 66. Areas of attractive lilac iridescence adheres about the borders. A well struck gem with excellent cameo contrast. Among the finest survivors from the 846 struck.
Estimated Value $2,250-2,750.

Lot 579      1901. NGC graded Proof 64 Premium Quality. Golden gray toning on both sides and minimal hairlines or signs of handling. Watery mirror fields and a touch of blue near the edges.
Estimated Value $950-1,050.

Rare Gem 1901-O Barber Half Dollar

Lot 580      1901-O. NGC graded MS-65. Silvery and bright with a lovely ring of gold around the periphery of the obverse and reverse. Sharply impressed by the dies, and rare in full gem condition as offered here.
Estimated Value $7,500-8,500.

Lot 581      1902. PCGS graded MS-65 Premium Quality. Light hazy gray tones over luster, and a nice strike too. In an older green insert PCGS holder.
Estimated Value $2,500-3,000.

Golden Gem 1902-O Half Dollar

Lot 582      1902-O. NGC graded MS-66. Gorgeous golden luster on both sides and well struck. A high end gem that most collectors will quickly fall in love with.
Estimated Value $6,000-7,000.

Lot 583      1906. NGC graded Proof 64. Nice toning of gold and blue on both sides and nicely contrasted. We note one tiny speck on the inner point of the fifth star on the obverse, and a few minor hairlines which account for the grade.
Estimated Value $800-900.
