Lot 678      1959 half dollar struck on a foreign planchet. MS-63. This is apparently struck on a foreign planchet as it weighs a bit more than a quarter should at 6.37 grams. Frosty luster and with very choice surfaces throughout. The date and mintmark area are strong, and all but the extreme peripheral lettering is present. A rare Franklin half dollar error, very few of which have been found. No reeding on the edge, and the foreign planchet appears to be silver. Estimated Value $250-UP. |

Lot 685      1976 Bicentennial Kennedy half dollar, struck 50 percent off center towards noon. MS-63. Here is a delightful error coin, struck only in 1976 for the Bicentennial and thus a one year type coin. Great luster and surfaces, with a touch of toning on Kennedy's jaw. We also note a minor rim clip behind Kennedy's neck. An important error that will no doubt find many suitors. The edge is plain and not reeded. Estimated Value $50-75. |
