Morgan Dollars (1885)

Lot 871      1885. PCGS graded MS-66. Wonderful rainbow toning stretches across the entire obverse. Worthy of a premium bid.

Lot 872      1885. PCGS graded MS-65 Deep Mirror Prooflike. Perfectly white in color and very frosty on the devices. A well contrasted coin for the numismatist. No disturbing marks on either side.

Lot 873      1885. NGC graded MS-65. This one has unusual toning, the obverse has light gold over luster, while the reverse has spectacular deep blue and gold with a slightly off-center box that remains untoned and blazing white covering approximately one half of the surface area. One might guess that the reverse had some kind of protective label inside an envelope which retarded the toning process in the area that forms the box. Great colors.

Lot 874      1885. PCGS graded MS-64 Deep Mirror Prooflike. Well mirrored fields, but a few ticks keep this from the gem class.

Lot 875      1885. NNCS graded MS-64. Lovely obverse rainbow toning of aqua blue, intense orange gold and sunset gold on the lower to right side. The reverse is white. In a National Numismatic Certification Service holder dated April 17, 1986.

Lot 876      1885. PCGS graded MS-63. Rather boldly toned on the obverse, with deeper hues on the left side and rainbow hues through Liberty's head, and fading to bright white on the right side for a small area. The reverse untoned. Great colors, choice surfaces and strike.

Lot 877      1885, one NGC graded MS-66, and two others are PCGS graded MS-64 DMPL. Lot of 3 coins. The first is totally white, the next two DMPL coins show light golden toning. Lot of 3 coins.

Lot 878      1885 NGC graded MS-64 and 1888 NGC graded MS-64. Lot of 2 coins. Both have lovely iridescent toning on both sides, and should be viewed to be appreciated. Lot of 2 coins.

Lot 879      1885 (2 pieces), one is NGC graded MS-65, the other NGC graded MS-64. Lot of 2 coins. Both are richly toned with vibrant gold, one with some blue as well, on the obverse, while their respective reverses are white for the most part. Lot of 2 coins.

Superb Deep Mirror Prooflike 1885-CC Dollar
Lot 880      1885-CC. PCGS graded MS-66 Deep Mirror Prooflike. Strong contrast between the devices and fields, and totally white in color. Clean surfaces, with one thin chatter mark in the left obverse field, and a couple of ticks on and near the neck point.

Lot 881      1885-CC. PCGS graded MS-65. Satiny and bright, with very clean surfaces for the grade. In an older PCGS green insert holder.

Lot 882      1885-CC. PCGS graded MS-65. A flashy white gem example for the date collector. The fields and surfaces are very nice for the grade.

Lot 883      1885-CC. PCGS graded MS-64 Deep Mirror Prooflike. Highly reflective fields and completely white in color. A few scattered ticks from gem, including some at the lower reverse.

Lot 884      1885-CC. ICG graded MS-64. Toned with deep green and blue on the reverse, with areas of dark reddish gold as well. Although somewhat mottled, the colors retain ample appeal for the toned Morgan collector. The right wing of the eagle particularly is a fine shade of vibrant blue-green. The obverse is mostly white save for some gold and blue around the date.

Lot 885      1885-O. PCGS graded MS-67. Hazy gold toning on both sides over near perfect surfaces. A bold strike and extremely nice surfaces.

Lot 886      1885-O. ICG graded MS-66. A crescent moon of intense blue green and magenta gold on the obverse, curving along the left side and through Liberty's face, with the balance white. On the reverse a touch of gold, but mostly bright and fresh. High end surfaces keep this one solidly in the gem class.

Lot 887      1885-O. NGC graded MS-66. White on the obverse, very deeply toned on the reverse with mottled iridescent blue, red, gold and gray. Some areas are very intense, others subdued and satiny. Another coin for toned Morgan collector.

Lot 888      1885-O. PCGS graded MS-65. Chartreuse and gold on the obverse here, with deeper almost red hues on the lower right, while the balance of the obverse is rich in sunset gold tones. Mostly white on the reverse. Particularly pleasing, although this one does not include as many colors, they are quite intense.

Lot 889      1885-O. PCGS graded MS-65. Deeply toned with dark greenish gold on the obverse at the top, with a couple of technicolor bands through the lower obverse of brilliant reddish gold and green, while the date remains mostly bright. Satiny and clean surfaces, minimal handling marks. The reverse is mostly white, with a touch of gold at the rim.

Lot 890      1885-O. PCGS graded MS-65. Toned with rainbow hues on the obverse, with irregular bands of color across the lower right. The colors start with gold, then light gray-blue, deep red, deep green, yellow green and more gold. Well struck and very appealing. The reverse has a bit of golden blue at the rim.

Lot 891      1885-O. PCGS graded MS-64. Intensely toned on the obverse with rainbow blues, golds, yellows, reds and greens in arcs through Liberty's face and another behind her cap. The field and front of her face remain bright white and lustrous, similar to the reverse which shows just a touch of color at the upper rim. Excellent luster and surfaces for the grade.

Lot 892      1885-O. PCGS graded MS-64. Toned on the obverse with deep gold in the right obverse field, brighter gold on Liberty, and an area of light blue on her cap and surrounding fields. Clean surfaces too, white on the reverse.

Lot 893      1885-O. NGC graded MS-64. Toned on the obverse with a light coating of bluish gold, with more vibrant reds at the extreme periphery. The reverse ringed in gold over good luster. A crisp strike.

Lot 894      1885-O. NGC graded MS-63. Extremely bright gold, red and green toning on the obverse, while the reverse is white. Choice surfaces, but outstanding colors.
