Morgan Dollars (1896-1921)

Lot 981      1896. NGC graded MS-66. Deep mottled gold on the obverse with bright blue in the fields as well, on the reverse we note total immersion in gold, mauve and blue in an organized fashion. A small struck through area on the first S of STATES. Splendid surfaces and exciting colors throughout.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,250.

Lot 982      1896. NGC graded MS-66. A touch of gold toning around the rim, white otherwise.
Estimated Value $350-400.

Lot 983      1896. NGC graded MS-65 Deep Prooflike. A gem that boasts light gold and blue around the edge of the obverse and reverse, frosty white elsewhere. The delicate mirror fields are very clean.
Estimated Value $600-700.

Lot 984      1896-O. PCGS graded MS-63 Premium Quality. Choice and fresh, with untoned surfaces. Well struck for the date and Mint, as we note separation on the curls over Liberty's ear and nice separation on the eagle's breast feathers too.
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.

Lot 985      1896-O. NGC graded MS-63. A downright rare date in mint state, at least one bag turned up but most of the coins were dull and not well struck. Here is a nice exception, with good luster and a decent strike. The coin remains bright white, and the surfaces show minimal handling marks. One of the great key dates of the series in higher grades. NGC has graded 85 this high, and importantly, just 11 coins higher. Waiting for a better specimen could be futile.
Estimated Value $4,000-4,500.

Lot 986      1896-O. NGC graded MS-61. Bright and frosty throughout. We note a couple of scratches across the cheek which probably kept this coin from grading higher. Very seldom encountered much better.
Estimated Value $800-900.

Lot 987      1896-O. PCGS graded AU-58. Pretty gold and blue toning on the obverse periphery, lustrous elsewhere. Nearly new.
Estimated Value $250-350.

Lot 988      1896-O and 1897-O, both grade XF to AU. Lot of 2 coins. Lot of 2 coins.
Estimated Value $75-100.

Lot 989      1896-S. NGC graded MS-62. Bright and frosty throughout with a scattering of contact marks on both sides.
Estimated Value $900-1,000.

Lot 990      1897 Redfield Collection holder. Paramount Intl MS-65, our grade MS-64. This one has lovely blue and gold peripheral toning on both sides, white at the centers. Good luster and decent services.
Estimated Value $400-500.

Choice Uncirculated 1897-O Morgan Dollar

Lot 991      1897-O. PCGS graded MS-64. Hazy white luster on both sides of this condition rarity. PCGS has only graded 24 this high, with just a dozen higher. This is a very rare date in this grade as reflected in the Population Report.
Estimated Value $9,000-UP.

Lot 992      1897-S. NGC graded MS-66. A frosty white gem that boasts satiny luster and very clean surfaces. No signs of toning on either side. A scarce date and hard to find this nice.

Lot 995      1898. NGC graded MS-63. Deep reddish gold on the obverse with variegated patination on the lower regions. Aqua green nuances near the peripheral realms add to the obverse allure. Reverse wise, a pie shaped golden eruction emanating from the eagle's navel away from his gaze, soft gold elsewhere.
Estimated Value $400-500.

Lot 996      1898-O. NGC graded MS-67. Light gold toning and very lustrous. One minor nick on the bust point, but Liberty's face is very clean as are the surrounding fields. A real jewel for the collector.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,200.

Lot 997      1898-O. NGC graded MS-66. Deep blue with intermittent magenta splashed on Liberty and her eagle, and needless to say, this one is heavy in the toning department. Good luster beneath and gemmy surfaces throughout. A common date enhanced by colorful hues and pristine surfaces, placing it near the top of the heap for desirability.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,250.

Lot 998      1898-S. PCGS graded MS-65. Light gold toning on both sides, and this one is housed in an older green insert holder. The fields are slightly prooflike as well.
Estimated Value $1,400-1,600.

Lot 999      1898-S. NGC graded MS-64 Deep Prooflike. Totally white and very well struck for this date. The surfaces are very clean for a deep prooflike coin, with just a few scattered cuts and marks from handling. Rare this nice.

Estimated Value $1,000-1,150.

Lot 1004      1900. PCGS graded MS-65. Blazing white luster and housed in an older PCGS green insert holder.
Estimated Value $100-120.

Lot 1005      1900-O and 1901-O, each NGC graded MS-65. Lot of 2 coins. The first has golden toning on the obverse, otherwise bright and lustrous. Lot of 2 coins.
Estimated Value $170-190.

Estimated Value $300-350.

Lot 1013      1903-O. PCGS graded MS-64. Beautiful gold toning on the obverse, with some blue at the rims, brighter on the reverse.
Estimated Value $250-300.

Lot 1014      1904-O. PCGS graded MS-67. Toned on both the obverse and reverse with deeper areas of blue near the rims, brilliant reddish gold and fading to a sunset gold for the majority of the central areas. Particularly well balanced and organized colors, and likely from a paper coin holder as compared to a coin bag in this catalogers guess. Not only a superbly toned coin, but a superb grade as well, with nearly perfect surfaces throughout. Don't miss this one if you need the date for your toned Morgan collection.
Estimated Value $3,000-4,000.

Lot 1015      1904-O. NGC graded MS-67. Creamy white luster and fairly well struck. Liberty's cheek is particularly clean, and the fields too, with virtually no signs of the usual handling marks. An impressive example of this otherwise common date.
Estimated Value $1,400-1,800.

Lot 1016      1904-O. PCGS graded MS-65. Exceptionally toned on both sides with reddish gold predominating on the obverse, more blue gold on the reverse. Typical strike for the date and mint, but a gem coin with splendid eye appeal for its toning.
Estimated Value $450-550.

Lot 1017      1904-O. PCGS graded MS-65. Bright orange gold toning fading to blue at the rims on the obverse, light peripheral gold on the reverse over luster.
Estimated Value $60-70.
