Lot 1412        U. S. Treasury Department. Heath's Infallable Counterfeit Detector. 1866 edition. Poor condition, the front cover and spine separated from the signatures, some signatures loose, scattered waterstains, etc. Still, an interesting piece of syngraphic history. These "Detectors" were sold to banks and merchants to aid in the detection of counterfeit paper money. Numerous plates are included to illustrate proper vignettes and engraving.
