58 Fr-41. 1862, $2 United States Note. An unusually handsome example of this colorful, early Deuce. The paper is cardboard crisp, the embossing is strong, and the surfaces are completely original. The right side of the top edge just touches the border design; everywhere else, the margins are nice and full. Nearly as nice as many "New" examples we've seen. Almost Uncirculated. By 1862, this type was changed from a Demand Note to a Legal Tender Issue by the removal of the "On Demand" obligation. However, they are in great "Demand" today! While the holder says Fr. 62, the note it self is really a Fr. 61a. An error on the part of the grading company. CGA graded Very Fine 25. Estimated Value $500-600. |
