100    Fr-93. 1862, $10 United States Note. This is earliest version of the reverse, with the "First Obligation" wording and small 10's instead of X's for the denomination. Evenly toned, well-circulated, but still a very pleasing example of this rare and desirable type. The third-party opinion lends confidence to the grade. CGA graded Very Fine 30.

103    Fr-96. 1869, $10 United States Note. A beautiful "Rainbow" note with vivid colors throughout. A choice example for the grade. This is known as a "Jackass" note -- turn the note upside-down and the eagle looks like the head of a jackass! CGA graded About Uncirculated 58.

107    Fr-101. 1880, $10 United States Note. Very scarce Fr number with less than thirty reported. This is one of those notes that never really saw any circulation, but was mishandled over the years. Excellent embossing can still been seen along with pleasant colors. A dozen or so pinholes, margin and corner problems need to be addressed. Still a very scarce note that should bring plenty of action when it crosses our auction block. Extremely Fine.

108    Fr-101. 1880, $10 United States Note. A handsome note that measures up fully to the Very Fine grade. The paper was tilted just a tad when this note was cut, such that the top right edge just touches the design. Fortunately, centering is not so critical on the mid-range grades, and most collectors would be perfectly happy to add this rare note to their collection. CGA graded Very Fine 20.

118    Fr-113. 1880, $10 United States Note. A choice note that is just a whisper away from being a full Gem. This series features a head of Daniel Webster at lower left and a scene with the Indian Princess Pocahontas being presented to the English court at lower right. This number is particularly desirable because it is one of the most affordable of the Series. CGA graded Choice Uncirculated 64.

137    Fr-148. 1862, $50 United States Note. One of the classic rarities of American paper money, in a very collectible condition. This note has seen its share of circulation but has survived nicely. The paper has toned lightly and evenly, there are no areas of heavy wear, and the outer edges are free of the nicks and dings that normally afflict these early notes. A very choice example for the grade. The opportunity to own a Fr-148 comes along very infrequently -- now you have a chance to add your name to this note's already impressive pedigree. CGA graded Very Fine 25.

Visually appealing at first glance, but close examination reveals numerous repairs to tiny nicks along the bottom, the replacement of a tiny chip on the lower right edge, and the closing of some internal splits left of center. Nevertheless, keep in mind that only 17 examples are known in all grades, making this an extremely desirable example of this number. CGA graded Fine 15 Repaired.
