2586    1880. NGC graded Proof 68 Cameo. A stunning, blast-white example of this Proof-only date, here in the finest grade ever assigned by NGC (it's actually tied with six others for top honors). None have been graded finer by either PCGS or NGC. The quality on this coin is mind-boggling. It looks as if it was made yesterday. Not a trace of toning is evident on either side and the surfaces are as flashy and as fresh-looking as the day they were struck. We admit to being jaded (we see a lot of impressive high-graded rarities) and, admittedly, it takes a special coin to get us excited. This is one such coin!
Estimated Value $20,000-30,000.

2587    1880. PCGS graded Proof 66 Deep Cameo. A pure white, Gem example of this rare, Proof-only date. The eye appeal is dramatic and the cameo contrast is as strong as it could possibly be. Lustrous, sparkling and blinding under a light source. Nearly as nice as the day it fell from the dies in 1880! PCGS reports 1 coin in this grade and only 1 finer (a single PR-67 DCAM). A tempting delicacy for the connoisseur of numismatic quality.
Estimated Value $20,000-30,000.
