Lot 1792 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1916-S. PCGS graded MS-64 Premium Quality. Here is a delight to behold, the rims are toned a deep gold to green color, while the balance of the coin is a bright golden tone. This one was likely mounted in an album for many years, and developed this magnificent color palette. This is the way all coins "should" look, in my humble opinion, after all silver tones (tarnishes) over time, depending on the amount of air that gets to it as well as moisture content nearby and proximity to various elements which can cause a coin to tone faster or slower. Take a look and see what you think.
Estimated Value $1,700-2,000.

Lot 1793 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1916-S. PCGS graded MS-64. This one is nearly a gem, but there is a minor scuff in the right obverse field. Sharply impressed on Liberty, and generally untoned, with a hint of gold on the right obverse edge, and a bit of pinkish tone on the central reverse. A beautiful coin that has the appearance of a gem.
Estimated Value $1,500-1,700.

Lot 1794
1917. MS-63. Beautiful toning on both sides and frosty luster beneath.
Estimated Value $100-150.

Lot 1795

Estimated Value $80-100.

1917-D. Mint mark on obverse. PCGS graded MS-63. Choice luster and well struck for the date, the coin boasts a touch of color, but is virtually stark white. Lots of luster and well preserved. These early dates are hard to find in mint state grades, especially so nice.
Estimated Value $600-650.

Lot 1798 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1917-D. Mint mark on reverse. PCGS graded MS-62. Satiny gray toning and fairly well struck for the date. No handling problems, just widely scattered marks. Better than one would expect for the grade.
Estimated Value $800-900.

Lot 1799
1917-D. Mint mark on reverse. AU-50. This one is a bit washed out from a cleaning.
Estimated Value $250-300.

1918. PCGS graded MS-63. A really nice strike on Liberty and the proud eagle on the reverse, with nice satiny luster and delicate toning on both sides. Highly appealing for the moderate grade. No serious marks whatsoever.
Estimated Value $550-600.

Lot 1803 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1918-D. MS-64. With light yellow and gold toning and well struck, minor scuffs on the high points. Flashy luster under the color and a rare date in high grade. Well struck for this Denver issue.
Estimated Value $2,500-3,000.

Lot 1804 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1918-D. MS-60 Plus. Light gold to tawny brown on the obverse, with flashy luster too. Lightly cleaned in the past, with moderate hairlines in the fields and high points. This one has a nice appearance, and would good in a high grade set.
Estimated Value $600-800.

Lot 1805 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1918-S. MS-63. With satiny luster in the fields and only minor scuffing on the high points. A rare date in mint state, and this coin has the typical softness at the centers.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,200.

Lot 1806 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1918-S. MS-60 Plus. This one must have been lightly cleaned as the surfaces are stark white, simply not realistic for an 83 year old silver coin. Blazing luster, and a couple of minor hairlines.
Estimated Value $400-500.

Lot 1808 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1919-D. PCGS graded MS-63. Flashy and white with a couple of trivial flecks of toning. This one has a decent strike but is a touch weak on Liberty's head and body.
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.

Lot 1809 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1919-S. AU-55. Mostly white, with a hint of sunset yellow on the upper obverse and similar on the lower reverse. Well struck for the date, and one that spent a brief time in circulation. Moderate hairlines.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,200.

Lot 1810
1919-S. EF-45. Cleaned and retoned to a silvery white color in an attempt to hide the raised surface problems near the date and motto. Inspection mandatory.

1921. PCGS graded AU-58 Premium Quality. This one is well struck by the dies and has a delicate gold with rose color. Examination will scarcely note the tiny bit of circulation rub, and this one managed to keep most of its luster. Only 246,000 struck, few of which are this nice.
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.

Lot 1815
1921. VF-25. Probably cleaned long ago and retoned with antique brownish gray shades. Examination will note some surface roughness in the left obverse field and other areas to a lessor degree. One of the key dates and always in high demand from collectors.
Estimated Value $350-450.

Lot 1816 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1921-D. PCGS graded AU-55 Premium Quality. This coin has beautiful surfaces and the appearance of a mint state coin. The surfaces show faint hairlines from circulation, but the coin is quite nice for the grade. Excellent luster and well struck for this very low mintage date.
