Silver Dollars

Morgan Dollars

Lot 1993
1878. 8 tail feathers. NGC graded MS-64 Deep Prooflike. With light scuffs and ticks in the fields and on the face, but a beauty for the investor. Seldom found this nice, and with such deep mirroring in the fields.

Lot 1994
1878. 8 tail feathers (2 pieces). A pair of bright white, untoned specimens. Both grade MS-62. Lot of 2 coins.

1878. 7/8 Clear doubled tail feathers. PCGS graded MS-65. A lovely coin that has a touch of deep copper toning at the top of the obverse, and lower part of the reverse. This is the "weak" variety of the tailfeather overage. Sharply struck and a nice cheek on Liberty.
Estimated Value $700-800.

Lot 1996
1878. 7/8 Clear doubled tail feathers. MS-63. Milky white and satiny luster on both sides.
Estimated Value $100-125.

Estimated Value $100-125.

1878-CC. PCGS graded MS-66. Only 94 graded this high, with a scant 2 graded higher! Flaming white luster and well struck, the surfaces are mint fresh, and not "bag" fresh, with the usual dozens of handling marks. Take a glass and see just how clean the surfaces are on this coin. Superb.
Estimated Value $2,000-2,500.

Lot 1999
1878-CC (3 pieces). These grade from About Uncirculated to Brilliant Uncirculated. Lot of 3 coins.
Estimated Value $175-200.

Lot 2000

Estimated Value $550-600.

1879-CC. CC over CC (capped die). PCGS graded MS-64. Scarcer than the normal CC reverse die, this coin is one of the best, with 112 graded as such, with just 3 coins graded higher. Frosty mint luster throughout, with light gold toning around the periphery.
Estimated Value $3,000-3,500.

Lot 2004 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1879-CC. CC over CC (capped die). MS-60. Probably cleaned at some time in the past, but the surfaces don't show any problems as a result. Flashy luster and with moderate handling marks. One of the really difficult, and expensive dates to locate in Mint State. This is an example of the large over small CC mintmark. We suspect it is from the GSA hoard which was released some years ago, allowing many more collectors the chance to complete their sets.
Estimated Value $900-1,100.

Lot 2005 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1879-CC. CC over CC (capped die). MS-60. Better than one would expect for the grade, the surfaces show moderate handling marks, and Liberty's face only a couple of minor scrapes. Choice gold toning around the periphery, a bit mottled, but it adds to the appeal. Scarce in this grade.
Estimated Value $900-1,100.

1879-CC. Clear CC. PCGS graded MS-65 Premium Quality. One of the finest of this date graded, only 39 have been graded as such (plus 4 more with PL or DMPL) and only 2 graded higher! Satiny luster with cartwheel reflectivity. Essentially untoned save for a gold area on the back of Liberty's head, another nearby in the field. Clean cheek on Liberty, and well struck too. Most of ticks are located on the lower bust tip of Liberty, and are not deep or disturbing.
Estimated Value $12,000-UP.
