Lot 1240 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1928 Hawaiian Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. A bright and flashy example of this low mintage commemorative. This one has a touch of delicate gold toning around the rim, but none of the usual heavy patina often seen from storage in Hawaii for many years. Fresh luster throughout, and worth a good bid from a collector who can appreciate the quality of strike, surfaces and visual appeal of this coin.
Estimated Value $1,500-2,000.

1928 Hawaiian Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. This Hawaiian has the usual dusky gold toning on both sides with a few widely scattered ticks from bag handling. One of the scarce commemoratives that is truly hard to find in gem grades.
Estimated Value $1,500-2,000.

Lot 1242 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1928 Hawaiian Half Dollar. AU-58. This one has been cleaned and remains dull in appearance. Still a scarce commemorative, and most of these have been cleaned several times in the past, and this is no exception. We must recall that a great many of Hawaiian commemorative issues were stored and became toned with not the most becoming shades, so few survive in original mint-fresh condition. This one is nicely struck, and will probably improve over time.
Estimated Value $800-850.

Lot 1243 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1935 Hudson Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. Bright with flecks of gold toning on both sides. Well struck and nicely preserved. Some iridescent toning on the reverse. PCGS has graded 99 this high, with 4 graded higher (all MS-67), so don't expect to find a better one.
Estimated Value $1,700-1,900.

Lot 1244
1935 Hudson Half Dollar. MS-63. Hazy toning over lustrous surfaces and quite pleasing for the grade.
Estimated Value $325-375.

Lot 1245

Lot 1246 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version

Lot 1261 Click on photo for enlarged version
1939-PDS Oregon Trail Half Dollar Set with the original paper holder. The coins in this lot grade Mint State 65. What makes this fun is that the original carboard holder is included, with the familiar "tabs" that held the coins in place still attached and intact. The card is actually in nice shape, and it must have been carefully stored for years, without constant handling. Naturally, the coins are toned with lovely steel gray and gold on both sides, from years of storage in the present holder. Lot of 3 coins and 1 holder.
Estimated Value $1,000-1,200.

1915 Panama-Pacific Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-65. A snowy white gem that boasts excellent luster, a strong strike and just a hint of toning around the periphery. Examination notes a small chattermark hidden in the folds of Liberty's dress near the rising Sun, but no others aside from the most minute signs of contact. In an old green insert PCGS holder, and we would not be surprised if this coin were graded higher in the future. Check it out and see for yourself, the surfaces are truly exceptional.
Estimated Value $1,400-1,600.
