Aelius, Caesar 136-138 AD. AR Denarius, Rome mint, struck 137 AD. Bare head of Aelius right. Reverse: Concordia seated left, holding out patera, left arm resting on cornucopia. RIC 443. Nicely styled portrait, with attractive soft pinkish-gray patina. Very Fine plus.

Antoninus Pius, 138-161 AD. Gold Aureus (7.1 g), Rome mint, struck 155-156 AD. Laureate head right. Reverse: Pius, togate, stands left holding globe. RIC 256a; C. 995. Perfectly centered on ovate flan. A pleasing, solid example, with slight reddish patina suggesting a Boscoreal source. Very Fine.

Faustina Senior, wife of Antoninus Pius, d. 141 AD. AE Sestertius, Rome mint. "Diva Favstina." Diademed and draped bust of Faustina right. Reverse: Aeternitas enthroned left, holding scepter and phoenix atop globe. RIC 1103; C. 15. Well centered on fairly round flan. Pleasing deep green and brown patina , with modest earthen highlights. Very Fine.

Pertinax, 193-193 AD. AR Denarius, Rome mint, struck 193 AD. Laureate head right. Reverse: Ops enthroned left, holding two ears of corn. RIC 8a; C. 33. Obverse well centered on tight flan; with very good portrait, and good even gray toning. Very Fine. With good eye appeal for the grade. Rare.

Pescennius Niger, 193-194 AD. AR Denarius, Antioch mint, struck 193-194 AD. Laureate head right. Reverse: Jupiter enthrone left, holding Victory and scepter; IOVI PRAE ORBIS. RSC 41a; RIC 43b. Surprisingly well centered, with complete legends visible. Lightly toned, with usual light metal porosity, but here not so bad. About Very Fine. Rare.

Clodius Albinus, 195-197 AD, as Caesar. AR Denarius, Rome mint, struck193. Bare head of Albinus right. Reverse: Providentia standing left with scepter, holding wan over globe at feet. RIC 32a; C. 53. Light, somewhat iridescent toning, with very good early portrait. Very Fine. Scarce.

Septimius Severus, 193-211 AD. AR Tetradrachm of Antioch, Syria, struck 202-207 AD. Laureate head right. Reverse: Eagle standing left on leg of animal, head reverted, holding wreath in beak. Cf. Bellinger 3; BMC p. 193, 351 var. Artistic toning of light russet color. With bold, impressive portrait. About Extremely Fine.

Light iridescent toning and some residual luster. Nearly Extremely Fine/Very Fine. Scarce.

Pupienus, 238 AD. Lot of Two Coins, an AR Antoninianus and an AE Sestertius, struck 238 AD. Antoninianus: Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Iunctio Dextrarum; RSC 3; RIC 10b. The Sestertius: Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Pax enthroned left, holding branch; RIC 22. The silver with excellent old collection toning, and fine style portrait. The bronze with variegated green, brown, and coppery patina; the portrait sharply struck and choice. The Antoninianus a Choice Very Fine; the Sestertius Near Very Fine/Fine.
