China. 1988 Error 1 ounce Platinum coin struck in Gold! Yes, that's correct, this 1988 Chinese Panda coin was supposed to be struck in platinum, but was struck in gold by mistake. Apparently a
few others escaped before the officials realized their error, and this is one of the few off-metal proof errors found from any world mint. Struck to commemorate the Basel International Coin Week, noting the Sino-Swiss Friendship between China and
Switzerland. The coin states "1 oz Pt" but obviously, this is gold! A fun error coin. Proof.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
