Attractive old toning; light graffito at obverse right. Flan a little ragged, with flan flaw at left, nevertheless archaic design bold, balanced, and elegant. Fine or better.

Reverse: Head of Arethusa right, wearing both pearl diadem and ribbon in her hair, four dolphins around, swimming clockwise. Boeh. 203. Finely centered on full flan. Usual worn obverse die; reverse very sharp, with especially charming late archaic portrait. Toned. Very Fine / about Extremely Fine.

The reverse here an unusual variation in that the nymph wears a ribbon in addition to the typical pearls. There are a few dies with this design variation, most of which seemed to be grouped around Boehringer 104-121, These perhaps the work of one or two engravers.

Sicily. Syracuse, Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Electrum 50 Litrai (3.6 g). Laureate head of Apollo lef, star behind. Reverse: Tripod with lid and handle, P between legs; ethnic around. Jenkins O 30 - R 47 (this coin); SNG Lockett 994 (this coin). Finely centered on slightly tight flan. In choice late Classical style, the Apollo delicate yet masculine. With lightly iridescent brownish toning. A nice Extremely Fine.

Very slight double striking, most obvious at the hound, but both dies among the prettiest of styles for this series. Faintly toned and lustrous. Choice Extremely Fine.

Reverse: Herakles, left, strangling the Nemean lion, bow and quiver behind; flower-like monogram(?) at left, king's name above and around. SNG ANS 1019 var.; Gaebler 8 (appears to be same dies); Sotheby's "Paeonian Hoard" 63 (all from the same obverse die). Untoned. Sharply and fully struck, the reverse with better centering than typical. The devices in high relief and attractive. Choice Extremely Fine, as struck. Scarce with reverse flower symbol.
