Phillip II, 247-249 AD. Lot of Two Billon Tetradrachms of Antioch. As Caesar, 244-246 AD: Bareheaded, cuirassed, and draped bust right / Eagle left. As Augustus, 246-249 AD: Laureate, cuirassed, and draped bust right / Eagle right, ethnic below. Metal with usual slight to light porosity. Some green depostis remaining, mostly on Caesar coin. Very Fine plus, and better. Nice dealer lot.

Quality art, with appealing, detailed portrait. Choice Extremely Fine. Choice and scarce.

Constantine I, 307-337 AD. Gold Solidus (4.46 g), Nicomedia mint, struck c. 335 AD. Anepigraphic issue. Head of Constantine the Great right, eyes gazing upwards, wearing elaborate jeweled diadem, the fasteners with pearl ends. Reverse: Victory seated right atop cuirass and shield, inscribing on shield supported by putto, VOT XXX; in exergue, SMNP. RIC 177; C. 627. Sharply struck and perfectly centered on quite round flan. Stylish and desirable! Extremely Fine. Rare, and always in demand.

Constantine I, 307-337 AD. Gold Solidus (4.38 g), Thessalonica mint, struck c. 327 AD. Anepigraphic issue. Head of Constantine the Great right, eyes gazing upwards, wearing decorated diadem, with fillet ends. Reverse: Victory advancing left, holding trophy and palm branch; CONSTANTINVS AVG, in exergue, SMTS. RIC 168. "Plump" portrait of interesting style, note RIC 166. One or two faint edge marks, and some slight smoothing at reverse exergue. Perhaps ex jewelry? Nevertheless, an appealing and affordable example of this rare type! Fine to About Very Fine.
