Under Persian Rule, before 333 BC. AR Yehud Hemiobol (.04 g). Profile view of lily. Reverse: Eagle frontally displayed, head to the right; to right, Hebrew inscription ("YHD"). Hendin 427; AJC I, p. 116, 8. Sharply struck on choice metal. Reverse nicely centered, with virtually complete inscription. Extremely Fine. Rare, and a really choice example.

Hellenistic Period, after 333 BC. Yehud AR Quater Obol (0.2 g). Diademed head of Ptolemy I right. Reverse: Eagle left, wings spread; Hebrew inscription at left, "Yehudah"; Mesh. AJC I, p. 117, 16. Deeply toned. The portrait die just a trifle soft. Very Fine / Extremely Fine.

Hasmonean Period. John Hyrcanus I, 134-104 BC. AE Lepton. Upright palm branch, flanked by Hebrew inscription in four lines on either side. Reverse: Lily, within beaded circular border, "A" monogram at left. Hendin 458; AJC I, Group O. Sharply struck and nicely centered. With black-green patina, and tan earthen highlights. Extremely Fine. Choice and rare.

Hasmonean Period. Mattathias Antigonus, 40-37 BC. AE 23 mm. (Four Prutot). Double cornucopiae, Hebrew inscription around and inbetween. Reverse: Filleted ivy wreath, Greek inscription around. Hendin 481; AJC I, V4. Red, green, and dark patina, with some earthen highlights. Reverse a little off center. A little peripheral inscription weakness on obverse, but overall better than usually seen. About Very Fine.

Herodian Period. Herod I, the Great, 40 B.C.-4 A.D. AE 8 Prutot. Tripod, with ceremonial bowl (lebes) above; Greek inscription around, date at left (year 3). Reverse: Ornamented military helmet facing, cheek plates and straps at sides; above, star, flanked by two palm branches. Hendin 486; AJC II, p. 235, 1. Finely centered and boldly struck. Dark rown-black patina, with earthen highlights. Choice Very Fine. An especially fine example.

Green and red patina, with slight earthen highlights. Very Fine.

Exceptional, boldly struck portrait. Handsome deep gray-green patina. Choice Very Fine.
